Customer service jobs can be the most rewarding and the most frustrating career choice on the planet. This is one reason employers try to be very careful about the type of person they hire for these positions. You will need patience, a cool head and above all the ability to satisfy the customer if at all possible! That is a tall order, but it can be done. If you have decided you would like to be employed in this field there are a few things you can do that will make your application stand out above all the rest.

When you think you want to go into customer service, volunteer. Local churches, hospitals and even some nursing homes have a variety of volunteer positions you could fill. This will give you experience dealing with people in a variety of situations plus it looks great on the resume.
Interview

During your interview, you need to do one thing above all others, that is look your prospective employer in the eye and answer all questions completely and honestly. When you are forthright with the employer, they can have confidence that you will meet the customer with the same respect. Looking someone in the eye conveys honesty and attentiveness, two things you will need in spades when it comes to working in customer service.
